There is an old saying that if you are on fire with enthusiasm, people will come from miles around to watch you burn. In other words, if you are excited about your business, people will want to join you. Now, there is a difference between legitimate enthusiasm and hype. Hype is where you act enthusiastic and people will see through that and avoid you.
Enthusiasm comes from deep belief in your company, products, and the impact you can have on people's lives. Build that belief and your own testimony and the enthusiasm will come out of you naturally. That's what attracts people to join you on your journey to time and financial freedom.
Don't be a beggar.
This is your business and you want to recruit people who want to be in business and want to transform their lives. If you have to beg people into your business, you will have to beg them to do the business and that takes a lot of energy. This is not a begging business, it's a sifting business.
There is an old industry story about a sponsor who leads a new agent out to a beach and tells her that in order to be successful in their business, she will need 5 Diamonds. The sponsor then marks out a large portion of the sand and says, buried somewhere in this area are 5 diamonds. They are each worth $5,000. All you have to do is dig through the sand to find them. Obviously the new agent began digging, but after several hours of not finding anything, began to complain about how hard it was. The sponsor encouraged her with a reminder of the value of the diamonds and that by covering the area searched so far, she was that much closer to finding a $5,000 diamond. This encouraged the new agent who begin digging with new excitement. However, a few minutes later a person walked up and asked her what she was doing. Looking for diamonds, was the agents reply. There aren't any diamonds on this beach, the stranger replied, you're just wasting your time. Again, discouraged, the agent wanted to quit, but the sponsor reminded her that the diamonds are definitely there, she just needed to continue digging and so she did. Within minutes, she found her first diamond. This built her belief so much that she quickly found the second, third, fourth, and fifth.
In the our business the diamonds are definitely out there, but you will have to sift through a lot of sand to find them. It will be hard work, you will want to quit, and there will be naysayers, but if you keep digging, you'll find the diamonds.
So, don't beg, dig.
Quite often I've had people tell me they don't know anyone.
I immediately ask to see their cell phone and low and behold I find a whole list of contacts. "Who are these people," I ask. Oh, they wouldn't be interested in this type of thing. Ah, now we're getting to the crux of the matter. They are pre-judging. Never, never, never pre-judge. You never know who is going to be interested and who will be your next superstar.
Never, never, never pre-judge anyone. Give everyone the opportunity to make their own decision about your business and products.
